Bird Tumbler/Vase (Green)

Description

A potter with a painter’s background, Vicki Gill says she “fell in love with clay at first touch.” For her, the tactile impression is as important as the visual impression, so carving and texturing methods form a common thread throughout her body of work. The bluebirds on this tumbler are made by pressing into wet clay with a stamp, and the branches are hand-carved. The designs are then handpainted with vibrant underglazes and finished with a tinted transparent glaze that Vicki formulated. This tumbler can also be used to display a small bouquet of flowers.
