On The Street Where I Live

Description

North Carolina artist Cynthia Wilson shares a delightful insight about her process – she might start with nature as her muse, but somewhere along the line, her paintings evolve into something more. The colors she chooses, inspired by the very subjects she paints, transform into delightful impressions and intriguing explorations of light. Some days, she captures the gentle, subdued light and soft shadows. But on other days, she beautifully brings to canvas the crisp, clear, and glowing sunlight that dances on the leaves.

Cynthia says, “Once I have an idea and begin to paint, the work takes on a life of its own. It reflects my emotions, my observations, and my experience as an artist. Lately, there has been a sense of urgency in my work, and I want to capture every moment. I feel that we are losing touch with nature and, maybe through my paintings, someone might begin to see how important it is to preserve this beautiful place we inhabit on planet earth.”
