ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ken Hicks is a recovering chiropractor. After spending years learning the art and science of chiropractic and building a successful practice, he realized this profession wasn’t “doing it” for him. So, he stopped doing it.
He dove head-first into fine woodworking and hasn’t looked back. His first project? A timeless and impossibly complex Sam Maloof rocking chair. Since then, he’s created countless pieces, each made with his uncommon attention to detail and uniqueness. Many of his works never make it out of Ken’s home, as he’s been known to become attached to his creations.
When Ken isn’t making sawdust and beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces, he’s scouring Planet Earth to find exotic and unique pieces of wood. Once in his possession, Ken’s been known to have gentle, relaxed conversations with these pieces of wood to learn what they want to be when they grow up. He’s also been known to pick on a guitar here and there.
