Nicole Hsieh of Hsieh Clay SF is a ceramicist and public school art teacher who has been crafting handmade housewares since 1992. Working from her San Francisco studio, she creates each piece from stoneware or porcelain, embellishing them with slip, underglaze, and hand-drawn floral motifs. Her ceramics evoke the nostalgia of antique pottery and family heirloom-timeless objects meant to be cherished and passed down for generations.
Characterized by bold florals and 22-karat gold accents, Hsieh’s work balances elegance with warmth. While her palette remains subtle, her designs radiate a lively, vintage charm reminiscent of 1960s and ’70s patterns. Like people, each piece carries its own personality and imperfections, celebrating authenticity. As an artist, educator, and mother, she hopes her work inspires others to embrace self-expression through art.
All of her pieces are food-safe, but due to their gold accents, they should not be used in the microwave or dishwasher.
