Flowers

Description

Rising boldly from the earth, Flowers by Jonathan Bowling transforms industrial scrap into a blooming tribute to nature’s resilience. Forged from reclaimed steel, the sculpture reimagines delicate petals and stems with strength and permanence, offering a striking contrast between the fleeting beauty of flowers and the enduring weight of metal.

Bowling’s work is rooted in a lifelong connection to the natural world and to the creative potential of found materials. Raised on a small Kentucky farm where the Appalachian foothills meet the Bluegrass, his childhood was filled with imaginative building—fieldstone castles, hay-twine bridles, and driftwood armadas shaped by rural life. These early experiences still echo in his sculptural practice today.

Now based in Greenville, North Carolina, Bowling continues to weld new life into old metal, creating large-scale animal and botanical forms that appear at once timeless and alive. Flowers invites viewers to pause, notice, and marvel—turning steel into a celebration of growth, transformation, and beauty reclaimed.
