Luna Stag Bourbon Bottle
Description
Silver Run Ceramics is the collaborative line of functional ceramic ware created by artists Michelle Lyn Strader and Frederick Bartolovic. Working together on their small farm in the Appalachian foothills of Eastern Kentucky, they merge their individual strengths to produce contemporary forms that are both versatile and highly functional. Each piece is embellished with primitive and sometimes mythical imagery, weaving narratives of predator and prey, the balances found in the natural world, and modern interpretations of ancient symbolism and folklore. The result is functional art that carries allegorical depth and decorative richness.
Michelle earned her BFA in Photography from The College of Saint Rose (Albany, NY), after studying at Pratt at Munson Williams Proctor (Utica, NY), and went on to complete a Master’s in Art Teaching at the State University of New York at Oswego. She became a full-time studio artist in 2015, when she and Frederick co-founded Silver Run Ceramics.
Frederick holds a BFA from the University of Arizona and an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Alongside his work with Silver Run Ceramics, he is Associate Professor of Ceramics at Marshall University in Huntington, WV. Together, they balance academic rigor and studio practice, creating a unified artistic voice rooted in their shared life and environment.
