Bunnoculars
Description
With ears perked and binoculars raised, Bunnoculars is a playful and imaginative outdoor sculpture that captures artist Josh Coté’s signature blend of craftsmanship, whimsy, and surreal storytelling. This curious hare, sculpted entirely from hand-twisted wire, peers intently through a pair of antique binoculars—inviting viewers to wonder: what does a rabbit see when it looks beyond the ordinary?
Meticulously shaped with only a hammer and needle-nosed pliers, Coté’s wire sculptures echo the fluidity of ink drawings brought into three dimensions. The addition of vintage binoculars—a found object repurposed with humor and meaning—adds a touch of nostalgia and mystery to the piece.
Raised in a family of painters and steeped in the imaginative worlds of Lewis Carroll, H.G. Wells, and Dr. Seuss, Coté’s artistic vision was shaped by a childhood spent on the road at East Coast art fairs. Though trained in traditional media, he taught himself sculpture, forging a distinctive path through the use of wire and wonder.
Bunnoculars invites you into that magical dream world—where wild hares take on human curiosity, and everyday objects become portals to the unexpected.
