No Rain, No Flowers: The Art of Taylor Robenalt

No Rain, No Flowers, a solo exhibition by ceramic artist Taylor Robenalt, will be on view at Grovewood Gallery from October 10 through December 31, with an opening reception on Saturday, October 10, from 2–5 p.m., where the artist will be in attendance.
This deeply personal body of work explores transformation, resilience, and the quiet beauty that emerges from life’s most difficult seasons. Created during a pivotal period of change, the exhibition reflects an emotional and spiritual awakening shaped by hardship, growth, and renewal.

Based in Sarasota, Florida, Robenalt is a ceramic sculptor whose narrative, figurative works examine emotion and the fluid cycles of life. She earned her BFA in bronze casting and stone carving from Southern Methodist University and later discovered her passion for ceramics through a post-baccalaureate program at the University of South Florida. In 2011, she received her MFA in ceramics from the University of Georgia. Robenalt has taught at Auburn University and Columbus State University and is currently a full-time professor at Ringling College of Art and Design. She is also the co-founder of Ceramic Sculpture Culture, a collective supporting emerging sculptors in clay.

Through imagery of blooming flowers, lingering rain clouds, animals, and serene female figures, Robenalt constructs a visual language of healing. Flowers serve as symbols of survival and emergence, while clouds—once heavy with uncertainty—become catalysts for change. Animals appear as grounded witnesses, and the women at the center embody a quiet strength and self-possession earned through experience.

At its core, No Rain, No Flowers suggests that beauty is not separate from struggle, but born from it. The work marks a transition into a new chapter, embracing both vulnerability and resilience. As a single mother, the artist reflects on independence, care, and redefinition—holding space for both grief and hope.
This collection invites viewers to consider their own seasons of transformation and to find meaning within the storms that shape them. It is a celebration of growth, a testament to endurance, and a reminder that even in uncertainty, something extraordinary can take root and bloom.
