Sarah Wells Rolland has been working in clay for over three decades. Having called Western North Carolina home since the ’70s, the influence of her surroundings is easily discovered in her work. Sarah says, “God’s creation, especially these mountains, celebrates every color in the spectrum. I work to capture these transitions and movements of color on the surface of my pots.”
Sarah is a graduate of Haywood Community College’s Professional Crafts Program and has been an active member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild since 1991. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, and her work can be found in many private and permanent collections, including the Corsaw Collection of American Ceramics at Alfred University. In 2011, she and her husband, George, founded The Village Potters Clay Center in Asheville’s River Arts District. Here, Sarah devotes much of her time mentoring and teaching the next generation of potters.
Please Note: Each cup is individually handmade, so expect slight variations in size and glazes.
