This handcrafted console table by John Parkinson is made from a natural edge ash slab with a walnut base. The ash top has a bowl carved in one end that retains the textured surface left by the carving gouge.
About John Parkinson “It was in the North East of England that I was introduced to woodworking through my father,” says John. “Little did I imagine this initial exposure to wood and tools would lead to a lifelong love of making furniture. After leaving school, I took on a traditional woodworking apprenticeship through Newcastle College, completing a four-year City & Guilds Institute course in 1980. I spent 25 years as a journeyman woodworker producing everything from kitchen cabinetry to fine furniture. Working alongside many talented craftsmen during this time allowed me to hone my skills and gain the experience I needed to build the fine furniture I produce today.”
John moved to the United States in 2005 where he started his own custom furniture business in Austin, TX. He now lives and works in Durham, NC where he continues to make custom furniture.
