Flax ModdWare Mugs
These flax ModdWare mugs by Alexa Modderno offer a sophisticated, modern take on traditional earthenware.
“Each piece is turned on the potter’s wheel. When fired in a high-temperature reduction atmosphere, my custom glazes expose the iron speckles in the stoneware clay. This method allows me to achieve a natural earthy feel on my contemporary, simple shapes.” ~ Alexa Modderno
About Alexa Modderno
Growing up in New York, Alexa was exposed to art at an early age by her mother, who was an art professor. Having a studio in their home ensured creativity was incorporated into their daily lives. In 1985, Alexa set up a clay studio in her home in Greensboro, NC, and began working as a production potter for a local ceramic artist. Her time was spent developing her glazes, firing techniques, and decorating methods. Because of this experience, her own line of work evolved, allowing her to turn clay into a full-time profession.
Please Note: Each mug is individually hand-thrown and glazed. Slight variations should be expected and embraced.
