Built to enhance your outdoor space and inspire imagination, this metal honey bear sculpture was handcrafted in Haverhill, Massachusetts by Dale Rogers.
Dale has been a full-time metal sculptor since 2002. His interest in welding began at a young age when he taught himself how to repair metal equipment on his family’s farm. Dale primarily works with Cor-Ten steel (also known as weathering steel) – chosen for its “long life/low maintenance” reputation. The idea behind this striking material is that a surface layer of rust will form, protecting the steel underneath from further deterioration and eliminating the need for paint. It offers an organic and simple element to Dale’s sculptures.
“The process for creating my art takes at least six months from conception to completion. When an idea comes to me I think about it for some time before moving to the next step. I complete a sketch and then begin the process of transferring that idea to something that can be created with metal in my studio. I use 3-D software to perfect the image I want before breaking it apart into workable pieces to be laser cut.”
Please Note: This is a handcrafted item so there may be slight variations between sculptures.
