Wildflower Pitcher
Description
This one-of-a-kind wildflower pitcher was handcrafted by Ayla Mullen in her Bellingham, WA studio. It was hand-thrown on a potter’s wheel and decorated with a hand-carved and inlaid design of wildflowers.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born and raised on a small farm in the Pacific Northwest, Ayla Mullen has been enamored with clay since the mud-pie bakery days of her childhood. After graduating with a degree in ceramics from Marlboro College in Vermont, Ayla moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains to pursue an apprenticeship with potter Ellen Shankin and learn the rhythms of life as a studio potter. After five years in Virginia, she followed the call of her home mountains and headed back west, thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail on her way to western Washington state. She is now settled in the town of Bellingham, her home and studio tucked between the mountains and the bay, and when she can get away from pottery, you will find her running, hiking, reading, and having kitchen dance parties with her cat.
