Create a buzz around town with this shadow box bee necklace by local artist Audrey Laine. The silhouette in this pendant is hand-cut from sheet brass using a jeweler’s saw, then fabricated into a lightweight shadow box. An 18″ sterling silver chain is included.
“I am drawn towards the contrast between geometric forms and intricate details of nature: the facets on a stone, the antennae of a moth. The things I make are an attempt to capture pleasures such as scouring the riverbed for a perfectly tumbled stone or finding another carpenter bee to add to a collection.”
About Audrey LaineAudrey is a jeweler and metalsmith working out of her home studio in Crabtree, NC. She received a B.A. in studio art from Rollins College and is also a graduate of Haywood Community College’s Professional Crafts Program, where she studied metals. Audrey was juried into the Southern Highland Craft Guild in 2016. She regularly participates in local and regional craft shows, demonstrating her hand-pierced silhouette techniques and selling her work.
Pendant Care: Brass and sterling silver can/will oxidize over time, depending on their contact with air, water, acid, oils, and lotions. To clean with a toothbrush, use either toothpaste for silver or household vinegar for brass. If you prefer to use traditional cleaning products, BrassO can be used on brass and silver cleaner on the sterling silver.
Please Note: Slight variances can occur due to the handmade nature of the work.
