Charlie Patricolo Demo & Drawing

8/19/2010 -

Longtime doll maker Charlie Patricolo will be at Grovewood Gallery making angels and witches on Sunday, September 19 (12 - 4pm). Come by the gallery and meet Charlie, ask questions about her work, and enter a drawing to win one of her dolls! A variety of dolls will also be available to purchase during the demonstration.

Making dolls has been a passion of Charlie Patricolo for nearly 40 years. The love of fabric and the creative process began to develop when she was a teenager in the 60's making dolls as a hobby. In the early 90’s, Charlie left her career in the computer industry and began to devote all of her time to developing dolls from her own designs. She found the experience to be rewarding and appreciated the freedom of being self-employed.

Charlie ended up in North Carolina about 9 years ago, enrolled in a class at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC. At the end of that first week, she felt she had found a home for her heart and her hands in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Charlie became involved in the work/study program and later the host program at the folk school. Recently, a new chapter for Charlie is unfolding; Life has moved her to Michigan, but she continues to visit North Carolina, teaching and demonstrating doll making.
